Kansa (bell metal)
Hand-wash with warm water and a mild soap. Kansa can react to acidic foods if left sitting for long periods, so it's best to serve and then wash rather than storing food in it for extended periods. A light polish with a soft cloth keeps the natural shine.
Brass
Hand-wash and dry immediately to prevent water spots. Over time, brass will naturally darken and develop a patina — this is normal and part of how the material ages, not a flaw. If you prefer a brighter finish, a brass polish and soft cloth will restore the shine.
Bone china & ceramics
Hand-wash recommended, especially for pieces with 24K gold detailing — dishwashers and abrasive sponges can wear down gold accents over time. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause fine ceramics to crack.
Mother of pearl
Wipe clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking mother-of-pearl inlaid pieces or using harsh chemical cleaners, which can dull the natural shimmer.
Marble
Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap. Marble is porous, so wipe up spills, especially oils and acidic liquids, promptly to avoid staining, and avoid placing marble pieces directly on high heat.
Hand wash only: Use mild soap and lukewarm water with a soft sponge. Avoid harsh cleaners or dishwashers.
Dry thoroughly: Pat dry with a soft cloth immediately to prevent water spots.
Polish when needed: Brass naturally tarnishes. Restore shine using a non-abrasive brass polish or a paste of lemon and baking soda.
Avoid prolonged moisture: Keep away from damp areas to prevent oxidation.
Store thoughtfully: Wrap in a soft cloth or store in a dry place to preserve the finish.
Gentle cleaning: Wash by hand using mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive scrubbers.
Dry immediately: Use a soft cloth to pat dry right after washing.
Polish occasionally: Kansa oxidizes over time. Use a non-abrasive bronze polish or a gentle natural cleaner to bring back its glow.
